The occasion marked a major milestone in the development of Two Bridges, which started in May this year, and is due for completion in August 2020.
Two Bridges is the latest development by Kindred Homes, a joint venture between EcoWorld London and Lampton 360, a wholly owned subsidiary of London Borough of Hounslow. The project will bring forward 30 new homes for Hounslow comprising a mix of purpose-built supported housing, shared ownership and build-to-rent units, which will all be handed over to Octavia Housing and Lampton 360. This brings the Kindred Homes portfolio to a total of 124 units, including a further venture at Acton Lodge due to deliver another 19 affordable homes for the Council in autumn 2020.

Archadia, the architects of the project, have been appointed to design a new purpose-built supported housing , block replacing the existing facilities. The new development will comprise a second building adjacent to the new supported housing block, providing new residential homes in line with the London Housing Design Guide. Both blocks have an allocation of on-site car parking and 10% of homes across both blocks will be wheelchair access enabled.
Following a breakfast reception, the development team and officials from the London Borough of Hounslow visited the site for the demolition of the final parts of the old building.

Heng Leong Cheong, CEO of EcoWorld London, said, “Today is a real landmark for Two Bridges, the second project EcoWorld London has brought forward in joint venture with Lampton 360 for Hounslow. Two Bridges will provide much-needed homes to the area, in particular introducing all-important affordable and supported homes to the segment of the community most in need. EcoWorld London is committed to delivering good quality affordable homes which create genuine neighbourhoods, and we are proud to play our part in addressing London’s housing crisis.”

Cllr Steve Curran, Leader of London Borough of Hounslow added,  “I’m delighted to have completed the demolition of what was a very old-fashioned institution, together with Cllr Guy Lambert, Cabinet Member for Highways, Recycling and Trading Companies, and local ward councillors Javed Akhunzada and Raghwinder Siddhu. This will be replaced with a brand new building providing high quality homes for people with learning disabilities. This is the second of a number of sites we are developing in partnership with EcoWorld, following Eden House in Hounslow, which is almost complete, and Acton Lodge in Brentford, where work is just getting under way. It’s great to see that by working together, we can build more homes for local people.”

The Lampton 360 portfolio has plans to maximise the volume of much-needed homes on under-utilised Council-owned land across the Borough by 2022. The partnership was brought about in 2017 to unlock the value of Hounslow’s land assets, and accelerate housebuilding. At least 40% of all the homes provided in this joint venture will be affordable. EcoWorld London was appointed as Development Manager for the project. A previous development, Eden House, will bring 75 units to rent or buy through shared ownership upon completion in August 2019.
