  • Major Milestone Reached at New Road Triangle as Buildings are Topped Out

EcoWorld London, Hounslow Council and Lampton Homes have celebrated the completion of structural works at the New Road Triangle housing development in Feltham.

To mark the milestone, Matt Townend, Chief Operating Officer of development partners at EcoWorld London joined the Leader of Hounslow Council, Cllr Shantanu Rajawat, Cllr Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Development, Cllr Guy Lambert, Cabinet Member for Housing, Recycling and Health Integration and Cllr Sue Sampson, Cabinet Member for Housing Management and Homelessness joined Lampton Group Executive Chair and interim Lampton Homes MD, Martin Cresswell for a topping out ceremony at the site.

New Road Triangle has been designed to accelerate the delivery of affordable homes in the borough and is being delivered in partnership by Hounslow Council’s wholly owned company Lampton Group, and EcoWorld London.  Scheduled for completion next year, the development will provide 176 new homes, 124 of which will be social rent homes for Hounslow with 52 homes being retained by Lampton Homes and allocated to key workers.

The development, in Feltham town centre, will provide a new, safe link to the neighbouring Glebeland playing fields, extending the nature corridor of the adjoining River Longford.  The development has been designed to complement the location, achieving a 50% increase in biodiversity with 43 new trees, native planting and green roofs. Air source heat pumps and solar panels for the homes contribute to a 70% carbon reduction.

Comprising two residential buildings, one 14-storey building of 98 new homes sitting along the western site boundary by Longford River, and one 11-storey building of 78 new homes running east to west along New Road, the development is built on half a hectare of land owned by the London Borough of Hounslow and previously occupied by Network Rail.

Local people have benefitted from employment opportunities from construction including a trio recently recruited by contractors CField at the Hounslow Council Construction marketplace. Ten local residents are currently working at the site including crane supervisor Sam who lives next door.

Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, says: “We are delighted to be celebrating another key milestone in the New Road Triangle project. The site has a key role to play in Hounslow Council’s ongoing mission to deliver high quality, affordable housing across the borough, and supports our pledge to deliver 1,000 new council homes by 2026. As the site moves into its final phase of development, we are looking forward to the meaningful housing and environmental benefits it will bring to the local community.”

Matt Townend, Chief Operating Officer, EcoWorld London, says: “We are delighted to be marking this important milestone in the delivery of New Road Triangle and to celebrate our partnership with the London Borough of Hounslow. EcoWorld London is proud to be a significant investor in Hounslow where we will deliver almost 2,000 new homes, as well as the  Gtech Community Stadium, a new home for the Brentford Community Sports Trust and other commercial and community facilities.”

Martin Cresswell, Lampton Group Executive Chair and interim Lampton Homes MD, says: “We are immensely proud of the progress made at the New Road Triangle development and our role in supporting this project. At Lampton Group, our priority is always to support Hounslow Council and the local community with improved outcomes, and this is the driving force behind the New Road Triangle site. As well as increasing access to essential affordable housing, the development has a range of environmental features helping us to create a greener Hounslow.”
